The year is 1642.
Far from England, in the colonies of the New World, English men and women are rattled by the news of a war between the King and Parliament. But for the residents of the Caribbean island of St. Erasmus, the war back home is the last thing on their minds.
Every time a holiday draws near, catastrophe comes to St. Erasmus. Hellbeasts and demons attack the town, pirates plunder and pillage their homes, and the Devil himself appears set on attaining the souls of every man, woman, and child in the colony for his own.
Christmas is coming to St. Erasmus. And this year, there have been no signs of villainy about to emerge, no sinister plots unravelled-- not even the unnatural snowfall that plagues the island year after year. Surely something terrible is about to happen.
But what can it be?

Shiver My Timber is a fast-paced play-by-post historical fantasy roleplaying game now in its third year. Applicants create original characters and may choose to roleplay with either a colonist or a sailor.
At the moment, we are especially looking for privateers, smugglers, and piratical types to sail on two ships: The Final Hazard and the Noble Hunt. We're also in need of family for the new Governor who is about to be installed on the island (a wife and kids of any age), and a wife for the colony's Reverend. A wide variety of other colonial characters are also welcome!
